Proctor, Keith Long is back at Aliso Niguel High School to finish the rest of the school year after taking a month and a half leave due to unfortunate circumstances.
Keith was gone for a month and a half after he unfortunately fell from eight feet in the air on a ladder after his hand saw got stuck while he was trimming trees at his home. He shattered his ankle and has had multiple surgeries for it throughout the last few months. Thankfully, he is okay now and can’t wait for his boot to come off and be more interactive with students.
Keith shares, “ I couldn’t wait to get back with all the change and Dr. Mahindrakar was a student here so I knew he knew the vibe and the way this school used to be. I was looking forward to seeing him coming in and making changes for the better.”
After being back at school for a month, he thinks the new school changes are beneficial and will keep students safer. The new phone “spas” will increase class productivity and create less distractions in the classroom. With phones being left in classrooms, it will decrease the amount of students leaving to meet up with friends or walk around campus. The colored restroom vest and zones will keep supervisors aware of where students should be during class time. Stricter attendance will make students want to come to class on time to avoid a lunch detention or a call to parents.
He has been anxious to get back to school after hearing good things about the new policies and was thrilled to meet this year’s new administrators.
He adds, “Since being back I have liked the changes. You know things will never be perfect, but compared to where we were in the past few years, things seem to be on an uprise.”
Keith spent most of his leave at home recovering and dealt with numerous surgeries for his ankle. On Oct. 1, he got the clear he was able to come back to school from his doctor, and was happy to go back to school. While he has been back, he has kept it light and is going strong on driving the golf cart around campus.
Keith says, “I am looking forward to getting healthy and getting this boot off my leg and being able to walk around and get to interact with students more.”
Many students and staff of ANHS are thrilled to see Keith back at school as he continues his recovery.
