With a roster full of young talent, Aliso Niguel’s Girls Varsity Golf team is ready for their league tee time.
Last week, the team had their tryouts and an intersquad meet. These two events helped Head Coach Biggs and Assistant Coach Turny get a better picture of the upcoming season and its key players.
According to Coach Biggs, this year’s Varsity team will be dominated by new, fresh talent due to six seniors graduating last year. Of the new golf roster, Coach Biggs believes there are at least three freshmen who will have a major role on varsity. Due to her performance in one of the team’s first wins of the school year against Crescent Valley High School, Rhyan Heine (9) will likely be the star of this year’s season.
In addition to the new talent, Carineo Leo (12), a talented golfer, has been named this year’s team captain.
With this line up, Coach Biggs said, “We have a really good chance at the League title.”
Even with the young and strong team, Coach Biggs believes that this year’s League will not be easy. While the preleague season will be manageable, our team’s high ranking in the upper South Coast League means that every league match will be a hard fought battle.
In the upper South Coast League, Aliso Niguel will play against the Girls Golf teams of JSerra, Mission Viejo, Tesoro, San Clemente, Dana Hills and most notably, Capo Valley High School.
This season has left the coaches hopeful for the League title. Coach Biggs admitted he believed this year’s team may be able to go to CIF and beyond. Aliso’s Girls Golf team is brimming with young talent, ready to take home this year’s League title.
