As this new school year ushers in a new season of sports, Aliso Niguel’s amazing Varsity Cheer and Song teams are ready to rally our student section and pack the den.
The 2024-2025 Aliso’s Varsity Cheer team has two team captains: Alexa Escuin (12) and Jovie Becklin (12). This year, the cheer team has a total of 38 members, including the captains.
Students can expect to see performances from cheer all throughout the school year.
Currently, both cheer and song perform at all football games, both home and away, and they will continue to travel with the team throughout CIF.
Later in the year, cheer and song will begin cheering on the basketball team, alternating between who performs depending on the day.
Either home or away, Aliso’s cheer and song team will be there to support Aliso’s athletes and rally the crowd.
In addition to sideline performances, Aliso’s cheer team will also begin competing in December. The team will compete locally throughout February as well. Only a few people know about these competitions. Coach Bigelow would appreciate it if more of Aliso’s students would come and support the cheer team in the same way that cheer shows its support to other sports groups on campus.
Coach Bigelow said, “The more support, the better!”
The performances put on at football games and pep rallies are composed of two groups: cheer, a mixture between gymnastics and acrobatics and song, which focuses on dance and crowd leading.
Whether it be on the field, court, or in competition, Aliso’s cheer team is ready to show their full support and pack the den.
