This year we welcome Aliso Niguel’s newest supervisor, Ms. Katya, who is going on her second year with the Capistrano Unified School District. She previously worked at Oak Grove Elementary School and now has joined Aliso Niguel High School.
She was born and raised in Komsomolsk-on-Amur, Russia and graduated from a university in her hometown. She majored in linguistics and minored in intercultural communication. She loves to spend time with her family and is grateful to be a citizen of the United States of America.
Ms. Katya needed a part time job to match her mom’s hours and becoming a supervisor worked out perfectly. She enjoys her job very much and loves to provide students with the help they need and be there if they need her.
Ms. Katya says, “I enjoy helping students on the campus such as finding a classroom, telling them about the right procedures, and keeping them safe.”
In her first year of working with students, she worked at Oak Grove Elementary School as a supervisor as well. On her first day working at ANHS, she noticed a few slight differences. Working with children ages 5-10 years old is a big responsibility because they need assistance learning how to problem solve independently and are learning how to grow into the person they want to be. With high school students, they are young adults and know how to manage themselves independently, but still seek guidance at times. Ms. Katya is continuing to learn the differences, but is doing a great job.
Ms. Katya says, “…I was looking up all the time because high school students are definitely taller…I do not need to carry Band-Aid bandages with me anymore…high schoolers can take care of small injuries themselves…you are all young adults here and have different emotional needs than young kids.”
Previously working with elementary school students and now high school students is a new environment. Her main goal is always to keep students safe and sound. She likes Aliso Niguel’s new policies because they do their best to ensure the safety of the students and keeps the school in order.
With Aliso Niguel increasing their staff, there are more eyes on watch and more people looking out for the well-being of our school. Ms. Katya is always ready to listen, increase productivity and aid those in need.
