With Friday Night Lights and Homecoming around the corner, Aliso’s social media team has been stirring up creative posts.
Instagram and TikTok are relevant in teens’ lives, allowing them to connect with friends, family and school.
Aliso Niguel’s ASB has assigned four talented students to manage all social media and create a positive environment for all students. The team consists of Kayley Song (12), Rijul Kashyap (11), Samantha Vu (10) and Amy Miller (9).
The four work together to create social media posts that strengthen the Aliso school spirit. With constant videos featured on TikTok, to digital pictures on Instagram, the social media managers
have increased engagement with students and ultimately increased the school spirit.
Rijul Kashyap, the social media commissioner, shares his process for making an average post, “We always make a transition video at the football games and a promotional video before. We usually come up with the ideas on Monday and film our promotional videos on Wednesday.”
The Social Media Managers are always ready to work in coherence with one another and share their ideas.
When it comes to football games, the Social Media Managers prepare by posting stories on Instagram on what to wear, create “roasting” videos with opposing schools and give students the option to submit songs they want to hear at the games.
Aliso’s posts have increased engagement from all over the school. Students prepare for games by following the dress code posted by the managers.
Most recent ideas made by the managers include using digital cameras and uploading the pictures to a drive for all students to access.
Along with that they have created picture signs themed according to the games and interact with students with posts on social media. Signs include cute slogans like “What’s cookin’ good lookin’” for the cookout and “Looking Pine” for the beach out.
Amy Miller discusses how much this team allowed her to grow in many skills, “Being on this team has taught me that it’s important to always communicate and hear your peers out if you want to bring the best results to the table. Besides that, I’ve learned lots of good publicity strategies that I’m sure will come to use in the future.”
Social media have been very relevant to students’ lives and the Social Media Managers have taken this to their advantage.
“This year we really wanted to focus on social media because it’s the easiest way to share information. We usually follow trends or find inspiration from other videos,” shares senior Kayley Song.
Engagement within the students is a priority to this team, as they want to relate and have a relationship with everyone in ANHS.
It is important to note that the managers put their best foot forward and dedicate a significant amount of time to the school and its spirit.
From small details like what props they have used in videos to creating polls on their stories, the Social Media Managers have increased the overall engagement of students and has made Aliso Niguel High School a positive and fun place to be.
