Senior Night was an event held prior to the football game at Aliso Niguel High School on Friday, Sept. 20. It started at 6 p.m.on the track next to the football field and was held to commemorate the senior students’ involvement in ANHS programs.
Seniors involved in school programs, including the marching band ensemble, both music and color guard, as well as pep squad and football, were invited to walk with their parents. For each senior, the speaker would first announce their name, their position in the program, their favorite memory of school and plans for post-high school graduation.
Every senior had the chance to take a photo in their team uniforms standing alongside their parents. The seniors had their photos taken in front of a balloon archway. Seniors lined up with their parents, and they stood in the queue waiting to be announced.
Color Guard members were called up first, then followed by the instrumentalist members of the band. Pep squad members were announced after, followed by the announcement of the football team members.
Julie Molina, Treasurer for the football club, said, “This is a special occasion for us to celebrate. It can be very emotional, especially for the mothers seeing their kids all grown up.”
The purpose of Senior Night is to recognize and show appreciation for the seniors’ dedication of their time to the marching band ensemble, pep squad and football. Senior Night highlights their contribution of efforts and support given to the school programs.
Kat Tran (12), Percussion Captain, said, “It was a fun experience walking up and getting honored for all the hard work I have been putting in for the past few years, and I loved being able to walk up with my mom to get our photo taken together.”
Senior night is meant to be an extra memorable night for the seniors, as it would be their last year involved in the program.
Aaron Tran (12) said, “Senior Night is a memory I will look back upon.”
Carol Caito, football booster president, said, “To prepare, we sent out a survey to all the seniors, asking for their favorite memories of high school, what their plans after high school are and how many years they were involved with the program. We gathered all of the information they submitted in the survey and gave it to the announcers.”
Senior Night ended at approximately 7 p.m., and the football game proceeded after.
