The Den was awarded National Student Section of the Week by Student Section Report for their intense school spirit and Wolverine pride. They were awarded after the recognition of their most recent home game against Compton Dominguez as they displayed a vibrant Hawaiian theme and packed the stands.
A report from The Student Section Report website, studentsectionreport.org, said “The Den packed the stands…when it comes to Orange County, the Den is one of the strongest Student Sections at home, they go all out!”
This recognition highlights Aliso’s support to the Wolverine Football team while underscoring their ability to embrace school spirit and draw attention to the Den.
The impact of the Den extends beyond national standards as the Den has also taken over the attention of the The Student Section Report and its local organizations. The Orange County Football Student Section (OCSS), which is dedicated to promoting and supporting student sections across Orange County has recognized the Den multiple times. The Den has been awarded four times for the Student Section of the Week, People’s Choice, and they continue to impress as the season progresses.
OCSS representatives came to the home game against Dominguez to witness the electrifying atmosphere that Aliso Niguel’s student section brings to each game.
When asked about what has made Aliso Niguel’s student section stand out from the rest, OCSS representatives said, “They really appreciate us and the kindness they’ve shown us really stood out. They’re so organized and Aliso Niguel is very cohesive with their teams and events. Aliso Niguel is very good at being able to really get your students to be engaged the entire game. Aliso is very spirited.”
OCSS looks for schools who’s student sections are active on social media and proactively use their platform to promote school spirit and involvement. Engaging with OCSS’s social media platforms is also crucial as it displays a schools willingness to show they are willing to connect and support the broader community of OC student sections.
OCSS representatives also provided insights about why student sections are so important in uniting the community, saying “Student sections are not only encouraging to the players. It unites everyone within a school. Everyone is cheering for the same reason and for the same goal, such as for their school to win or just have fun together.”
Another representative noted that, “I think it really brings all sorts of people together. Everyone shows support like parents and teachers, as well as the students that show up to support their team and be in the student section. I think it’s just a really great way to bring everyone together.”
This school year the Den exemplifies what it means to have a great student section. Through creativity, organization, and spirit, the Den shows their unwavering dedication to the football team. This contributes to students’ overall highschool experience and sets a standard for what school spirit should look like in Orange County.
