As the fall season approaches, Orange County starts their local fun filled fall activities. These fall activities can allow locals to enjoy a variety of seasonal events.
One of the most popular activities for families include Tanaka Farms, located in Irvine, they hold an annual pumpkin patch to harvest festivals. Visitors can enjoy mazes, hayrides, and pumpkins from the pumpkin patch.
According to their website, “Tanaka farms is the one of the only farms in Orange County with a real pumpkin patch.”
The pumpkin patch extends over thirty acres of land for exploration and fun, where one can pick a growing pumpkin right from the patch.
For those who look forward to experiencing the Halloween spirit of the fall season, Knotts Scary Farm in Buena Park is the perfect place to go this year. Knott’s has their own famous haunted mazes, spooky attractions, scary characters and thrilling rides. The park is transformed into this scary experience from Sept. 22 through Oct. 31.
Other amusement parks such as Disneyland are also fun places to be during the fall season as Disney decorates the park for the spook season. Throughout their trip, visitors will see countless decorations, treats and merchandise celebrating the halloween season. The Haunted Mansion ride will also be termed as the Nightmare Before Christmas for the holiday season. Seeing the fall season at Disney is a great way to get into the halloween spirit.
For over a hundred years, the Anaheim Fall Festival has been a fun and festive way to celebrate fall. The Anaheim Fall Festival begins on Oct. 4 at Center Street Promenade this year. The event will have photo entertainers, vendors, costume contests and photo op’s. The event will also host a parade with floats made by local volunteers along with a marching band and dance groups.
The Anaheim Fall Festival website shares that, “This hometown tradition is run entirely by local volunteers who come together each year to celebrate Halloween, Dia de Los Muertos, and the Harvest Season.”
The Fall-O-Ween event will take place on Oct. 11 in Lake forest. This community event features, and a wide variety of activities. This event is family friendly as it has activities for children such as scavenger hunts, arts and crafts and they encourage everyone to dress up.
Another exciting event occuring this fall season is Oktoberfest in Huntington Beach. While this event is not specifically a fall celebration, it is well-known for its fun festivities during the fall season. Oktoberfest celebrates German traditions and offers visitors an opportunity to try authentic German foods, drinks and other lively activities such as games and dancing.
During the months of Aug. and Oct. families have the unique opportunity to take a trip to Oak Glen and go to Riley’s Apple Farm to walk around the orchard, pick apples and drink cider. They have kids crafts, panning for gems, and shopping at the market place and more. This is located outside of the Orange County area but it is fairly close and may be worth the trip to get that fall experience.
With the various activities that Orange County has to offer, locals are set with numerous options when choosing fall activities to embrace the fall season. From festivities, unique attractions and seasonal entertainment there are many great destinations to choose from.
