The Enriching Students program aims to boost student learning, but has recently been causing some unexpected issues.
Enriching students allows students to sign up for classes and teachers in order to gain understanding of what they’re learning. This program opens every Friday and is available for students to sign up until Monday at noon. The students get 15 minutes on Mondays to sign up for the week and they can change their schedules anytime throughout the week except from 8am to the end of Wolverine Plus everyday, when the window closes.
However, since the start of the 2024-2025 school year, worries and complaints about Enriching Students have become more rapid and the students seem to be finding the program challenging to work with and operate.
Sophmore Ai Kato shared on this issue, “We are supposed to be able to change our Wolverine Plus until the morning of. But sometimes it doesn’t let me. Or there are open seats but it won’t let me sign up.”
This program generally allows students to be able to change their scheduled courses of the week until 8 a.m. each morning. Many students seem to claim that this extension does not always work properly and can cause issues from occasionally.
Librarian Sofia Lanning shared on this issue by stating, “I always see students being very stressed out and asking me to check their schedules for them. But I think a big part of that is that students are not checking their schedules before coming to school every day.”
Students across campus have also not been able to check what class they are assigned to prior to Wolverine Plus and as a result, they face consequences for attending the wrong class.
The Aliso Niguel High School also experienced some issues with the wifi in the first weeks of the school year which required technicians to come to campus and take a closer look at the issue.
The office front desk, Alicia Rodriguez, spoke on the wifi problems, “ I think the reason behind students struggling with enriching students could be their problems with the school wifi. Unfortunately, our school faced some challenges with the wifi, and it was also challenging for me to print the Wolverine Plus rosters. So maybe that is why some students might be struggling with the program.”
The Enriching Students advisor Carol Harlan said, “The school’s problems with the wifi might be the issue and not the program itself. If any students are finding the enriching students challenging to work with, they should come discuss them with me.”
In general, it is very important for students to be aware of their schedules every day so they can be prepared. The Aliso Niguel high school has guidelines and consequences for not attending the correct Wolverine Plus every day and taking the extra time to check the schedule will be helpful to those struggling with scheduling their classes.
