As the new 2024-2025 school year begins, new staff are welcomed here at ANHS. Some of the new staff members this year include Mr. Brosamer, Mrs. Wegner, Ms. Zoccoli and Mrs. Lanning.
Mr. Brosamer is one of the new assistant principals, serving students with the last names H-N. For many years, Mr. Brosamer was a teacher but later decided to be an assistant principal here at Aliso because he wanted to do something different in an educational setting.
According to Mr. Brosamer, he has a long history with ANHS and its community, opening up DJAMS as a teacher, being an assistant principal at AVMS for four years and working at ANHS for 14 years before returning. His favorite parts of the school are the staff, the community, the strong academics and the extracurricular programs here.
When asked about his goal for this school year, Mr. Brosamer responds, “I want to beat Dr. Mahindrakar in a breakdancing competition.”
Along with Assistant Principal Mr. Brosamer, Mrs. Wegner is also a new assistant principal in the school, serving students with last names O-Z. Typically, Mrs. Wegner is found working in Student Services for tardies and assigning consequences. Mrs. Wegner was initially interested in English in hopes of becoming an English teacher one day; however, she later decided to go into Admin during quarantine because teaching distance learning was difficult and she has always had a connection with leadership positions.
From her time here, Mrs. Wegner has been most content with the sweet students here at Aliso. The moment that specifically stuck with Mrs. Wegner ever since coming to the school was during the first football game of the year. She welled up with pride seeing that the entire student section kneeled as a sign of respect when a football player got injured during the game.
Another new staff member is Ms. Zoccoli, who works as the registrar in the guidance office. Typically, Ms. Zoccoli welcomes enrollments of students, transcribes transcripts, changes grades and helps families and staff support the students of the school.
Ms. Zoccoli has always wanted to work at a school or university, however, did not know about working as a registrar until being put into the role. As it is Ms. Zoccoli’s first year here, her main goal is to master her position as the registrar as best as she can. From her experience so far, Ms. Zoccoli admires most of the students’ energy and eagerness to do better, wanting to do their best to excel in the best way possible.
The ANHS library continues to be a popular spot for students to read or study, and Mrs. Lanning is a new librarian clerk here to help with +++any student needs in the library. Mrs. Lanning usually helps with handing out Chromebooks and checking out textbooks.
At first, Mrs. Lanning did not plan to become a library clerk but found herself working in the library at another school before transferring to ANHS. Mrs. Lanning hopes to bring in books in different languages and other book requests so students can delve into the world of reading for pleasure. She also hopes to introduce more quiet activities such as word searches, color by numbers, crossword, Legos and even competitions of who can be quiet the longest.
ANHS is grateful to have wonderful staff members who are here to support students to the best of their abilities. All faculty members, whether they are new to this school or not, will continue to make Aliso a safe and welcoming community for students.
Mrs. Wegner provides a piece of advice for the Wolverines: “Every day is a new day. I think that if someone has a bad day, that doesn’t define you and you’ll always have a new opportunity every day.”
