The College and Career Center is a place for students at Aliso Niguel to get help with anything relating to their college or career plans. The College and Career Center is located next to the library in room 500 with an information sign outside the door.
The College and Career Center is open all week. Each week on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday the College and Career Center is open from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. On Wednesdays, Mrs. Nguyen will be there longer from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Mrs. Nguyen, the school’s college and career counselor says, “Typically in the College and Career Center you find a college and career expert and our purpose is to support students in planning for their futures.”
Mrs. Nguyen, a Futureology College and Career counselor, is the main counselor in the College and Career Center that students can get support from. She can help students with college applications, financial aid and finding the right career.
Students from all grades at Aliso Niguel are able to visit the College and Career Center to get support and information. Currently, Mrs. Nguyen mostly sees students in grades 11 and 12 in the fall, but all students will be able to take advantage of the College and Career Center in the Spring.
They have workshops, webinars and presentations each week. Students are able to ask questions and get help on college applications.
Mrs. Nguyen says, “We help students with anything related to planning their life after high school.”
Students can book one-on-one appointments with Mrs. Nguyen by using a link located in the “Guidance” section under “College and Career Center” of the Aliso Niguel website. Another way to get support is to schedule for Wolverine Plus at the College and Career Center.
During Wolverine Plus, there will be college planning workshops on Wednesdays and college application support on Thursdays and Fridays.
If Mrs. Nguyen is unavailable or has a full schedule, students are able to contact another Futureology Counselor from the district.
At Aliso Niguel, students are provided with a variety of resources to help them with college and career planning. Students can take advantage of the College and Career Center, talk to their guidance counselor or attend school-hosted events.
On Oct. 22 and 23, Aliso Niguel is hosting a college and career support event for seniors called Challenge Accepted. All seniors will participate in this event during their English block period.
Seniors will be given an option to choose what session they would like to attend for Challenge Accepted. The sessions are based on the senior’s plans after high school that they want more information on. Students can get help with out-of-state applications, community college applications, Cal State Applications, or military options and career education.
Challenge Accepted is one of many events and resources for students to use as preparation as they start their life after high school. The College and Career Center is a special privilege that students should utilize to get a head start on their plans for their future.
