Since the Capo Valley Relays, both the girls and boys teams have been competing against Capo Valley.
Both the boys and girls came out on top of the Cougars at the Wolverine home pool and ended up winning the meet cumulatively. The girls ended up beating the Capo Girls 292-149, and the boys beat the Capo Boys 350-151. The majority of the highest point scorers for this meet were mostly Aliso Niguel Swimmers, with the highest point tally being twelve points.
Devon Silberman was a key factor in the win against Capo Valley on the girls side. She participated in both the 50-yard freestyle, finishing with a 25.25 as well as the 100-yard fly, in which she finished sub one minute, at a 58.97. She did this in winning both of her events, winning six points per event, and twelve points total.
Both of the boys were cruising through the season, with both the girls and boys teams winning two games and losing zero in the two meets of the season.
Next up, both of the teams were in hopes of improving their winning ways as they traveled to Mission Viejo.
This time, the girls barely came out on top, scoring 35 total points in comparison to the Diablo’s 27 points. On the boys side, they were still very dominant, winning 42 to 26. Added in were the relays and both the boys and girls teams dominated Mission Viejo. Aliso ended up winning very comfortably in the end, 702-143. This improves their record to 3-0 for the Swim campaign.
Onto the next meet, the Wolverines were up against a very tough boys and girls team. Individually, the Wolverines struggled, losing both on the boys and girls sides 35-44 and 45-51 respectively. Luckily, Aliso’s brilliant relay teams saved the day, with the teams destroying San Juan Hills, winning 306-189 on the boys side and 277-196 on the girls side.
Combined in total, Aliso beat San Juan Hills by more than 200 points, even with the Stallions winning in the Individual section.
Maya Voss (11) impressed in both of her races, claiming first place in both the Individual Medley as well as the breaststroke.
Heading into the final two meets of the season before league finals, the Wolverines were both 4-0 cumulatively.
The meet against Tesoro High School was tight, with the boys losing individually, but winning in relays. The girls narrowly lost in individuals and did not come close to Tesoro’s relay team. Aliso lost with both teams together but won with only the boys team.
Aliso also lost cumulatively to bring their record down to four and two.
Regardless, many of Aliso’s swimmers qualified for individual CIF.
Voss reflected back on the year, “I thought that the year was great, and we all did really well.”
The Wolverines also had league finals at Mission Viejo and performed really well. Aliso finished cumulatively third out of the five teams.”
Dylan Casey scored an impressive 37 points for Aliso.
Gabe Widarto (11) talks about the importance of the seniors this year. “It will definitely be emotional seeing these seniors leave, as I have been around them for the three years I have been here. Will definitely be hard next year without them.”
