Seniors had an senior exclusive pep rally during Wolverine+ on Friday May 3, 2024. The pep rally mainly consisted of dances by groups of seniors, along with speeches and videos being shown to the audience.
The senior students and seniors in the Associated Student Body (ASB) at Aliso Niguel High School decided to collaborate and put together two dances during the Senior Send Off Pep Rally.
There were two dances that were “Mamma Mia!” themed, there was one senior boys dance group and one senior girls dance group. Both used soundtrack remixes from the movie “Mamma Mia!” All the seniors that participated in the dancing wore white shirts and blue jeans to go with the theme of the dance.
The theme for this year’s prom is “Mamma Mia!” The pep rally was a good way to get students, especially seniors, excited about attending the prom the following day. Many seniors both in ASB and not in ASB decided to participate in the pep rally dance because it is their last year in high school.
Joshua Gillebaard (12) says, “as ASB members, we were required to dance, but we also wanted to do it just for fun since it is our senior year.”
The boys team dance consisted of three members, including Cage Gonzalez (12), Sebastian Ugarte (12), and Joshua Gillebaard. Their dance was choreographed by Christina Zierke (11).
The girls team dance was choreographed by Emily Surovy (12), and they held around five practices in preparation for the pep rally performance in front of the seniors.
Ayah Daboussi (12) said, “We wanted to make the most of every moment with all of our friends and classmates. All my friends and I decided to participate, and we had so much fun bonding with everyone.”
Elise Lang (12) said, “We decided to participate because it is our last year in high school, and we wanted to make some memories and do everything we can together while we still have the time.”
The girls team dance followed shortly after, with many more members. The senior members included, Elise Lang, Krizzy Pascua, Kelsey Watts, Ashlin Morris, Emily Surovy, Carmen Lyle, Mila Pysz, Charli Jotblad, Ann Kato, Jordan Lamey, Josie Zamora, Jolie Allen, Ayah Daboussi, Lucia Smith, Maggie Kovalcik, Grace Galaway, Giovanna Pereira, Ashley Rogers, Maggie Hunter, Taylor Millikan and Lauren Karle.
Seniors in the audience also seemed to enjoy the performance put on by the dance teams.
Taylor Clark (12) said, “I thought the dances were really cute, you can definitely tell everyone put a lot of effort into their performances, it was really well done and fun to watch.”
The DA team and the Song team also performed at the pep rally to excite the crowd.
