The Aliso boys lacrosse team opened the league season with their first game against Temecula Valley High School on Feb. 13.
The boys played tough from the beginning to the end of the game fighting for any chance with having the game at their play. They fought hard and ended the game in their favor with a winning score of 12-6, nearly doubling their opponent’s goals.
Following their game against Temecula Valley, Aliso went up against Servite High School a few days later on Feb. 13. The boys had their minds set on winning since defeating their opponent in the season opener. Aliso took home the win with a score of 8-5.
The boys went up against Huntington Beach High School on Feb. 21. The game was close for the boys, but they were able to secure the win for Aliso with a score of 6-5.
On Feb. 23, the boys played against Edison High School. The game was heated as it was a close score for both teams. Aliso fought till the very end, but still, the game ended in a loss of 6-5 Edison taking the win.
Aliso played Beckman High School on Feb. 29. With the previous game in mind, Aliso had one goal for this game: to win. With the motivation, the boys were able to score multiple times, almost doubling Beckman’s score. The game ended with a successful win for Aliso of 9-5.
On March 6, the boys went up against San Clemente High School. At the start of the game, Aliso fought hard, but San Clemente was still leading. As it began to rain, Aliso still kept their position, keeping up with San Clemente. Despite the weather conditions, the boys were able to take the lead from San Clemente, scoring multiple times. The game ended in a successful win against San Clemente with a score of 6-5.
Aliso recently went up against Trabuco Hills High School on March 8. Once again the game was close for the boys, but in the end, Trabuco Hills prevailed with a winning score of 7-8.
When asked about the upcoming games, goalie Irving Pincus (11) replied, “I think we are all looking forward to playing Santiago at home in a little over a month. It’s definitely going to be a good game and they are the team that beat us in CIF finals last year so it means more to us as a team.”
The captains this season are Ayden Sanchez (12), Aiden Maher (12), Luke Ewert (12), Nate Perkins (12) and Tommy Smith (11).
Two seniors, also captains, have already committed to playing lacrosse at the collegiate level. Ayden Sanchez is committed to Mercer University and Luke Ewert is committed to the University of Detroit Mercy.
This year the boys are going to continue to compete in the Sea View League. In the past seasons, Aliso has won both champion titles of the league and CIF. The boys’ lacrosse team here at Aliso has won the title of League Champions six times, hopefully continuing the three-year streak.
Cade Saito (11) states, “I’m excited for this season, we have been playing really well and I cannot wait to see how it turns out.”
In the 2023 season, the boys won the title of CIF champions and hope to do it once again.
