In the month of March in 2024, students at Aliso Niguel High School were given the chance to elect students as their student body council.
For junior class representatives, Rachael Ryan (10) ran as candidate for junior class president and Ulyanna Tsetsulnikova (10) ran as candidate for junior class vice president.
For sophomore class representatives, Lyla Fernandez (9) ran as candidate for sophomore class president and Claire Bierman (9) ran for sophomore class vice president.
The election results were presented on March 4, 2024, announcing that each candidate had won their roles as representatives for their grade.
Rachael Ryan (10) says, “I wanted to leave an impact on ANHS. I really want to increase recognition for unrecognized sports and arts, and I feel that becoming junior class president is the best way to do that.”
Rachael is an extremely driven and hardworking student in ANHS. She has leadership experience as a member of ASB for two years and has been president of the NCL chapter. In addition, she is also on the national advisory council for NCL while being co-president and co-founder of the Mock Trial Club.
Ulyana Tsetsulnikova (10) said, “As junior vice president, I feel like I am ready to listen to the school’s ideas and implement them to try to make our junior year the best we have had.”
Ulyana was driven to run in the elections due to her willingness to support and uplift other students in her grade and ANHS as a whole. She has shown strong attributions to the school through her two-year membership in ASB.
Lyla Fernanadez (9) shares, “I was motivated to run for my position as sophomore class president for a few reasons. The first being that ASB over the years has helped me in major ways and improve my dedication to myself and school. It has helped me build relationships and confidence in what I’m doing whether it is in the classroom or out during football games.”
Lyla is also the current freshman class president and has skills in communication, understanding and adaptability. She is able to communicate with her team in workplace situations, understand and respect each individual opinion and adapt to changes when dealing with activities and new people in ASB.
Claire Bierman (9), says “I will be sure to lead with passion, exclusiveness and an open mind as freshman class vice president.”
Each member of the student body holds strong attributions that make them strong for their role in ANHS. As representatives of each grade, they demonstrate independence and responsibility which sets them apart from other students.
Representatives are able to balance their busy schedules while putting forth their best effort in improving their school and peers. Even as underclassmen, these students are role models that every student should follow based on their dedication to their job.
Every student should also take into account the process of voting for each representative to ensure the members that are elected are worthy of their roles. The upcoming school year is looking bright for juniors and sophomores because of the strong willed members of ASB that make the school year great.
