Aliso Niguel’s 2024 Grad Nite for Seniors promises to celebrate the graduating classes’ accomplishments and crown an unforgettable day with a party just for high school seniors at Disneyland California Adventure. Despite the appearance of entertainment for all students, many seniors didn’t have the opportunity to purchase tickets before the tickets were completely sold out.
Grad Nite tickets were on sale in Feb., priced at $175 until Feb. 25, 2024, and increasing to $200 after Feb. 25 until March 15, 2024, the last day to purchase tickets. Many seniors were disheartened when they realized that tickets had sold out on the night of Feb. 25, with only a waitlist available for those who were interested in the trip.
Although Aliso Niguel had announced that tickets would be first come first serve and encouraged students to buy tickets early to make sure they reserve a spot, seniors were not expecting the demand for tickets and many missed out on the opportunity.
Once tickets were sold out, a Google form was created that prompted seniors to fill out some information to be contacted in case some reservations were canceled or more tickets were purchased, but at this point, the school has been swamped with applications.
On the Grad Nite waitlist Google form, it says, “The wait list has been suspended for now. We have received an overwhelming response and won’t have enough tickets with the amount of responses. We will reopen if we are able to get more tickets.”
Mariam Taheri (12), a senior at Aliso Niguel High School says, “I wish the school would have purchased more tickets and planned accordingly because some of my friends were able to buy tickets but I was too late and can’t go with them like we had planned. I think Grad Nite is a really fun opportunity for seniors to come together and celebrate one last time before going off the college or pursuing their careers but it’s unfortunate that the school wasn’t able to provide that experience for all interested seniors.”
Grad Nite allows seniors the chance to have a fun-filled night and includes round-trip transportation from the school to Disneyland California Adventure, rides and attractions, special graduation-themed photo ops, live musical performances and dance parties hosted by DJs. The experience is open to all students of the class of 2024, but the school lacked the resources and preparation to buy enough tickets for all interested adolescents.
Asal Flodius (12), a 2024 graduate states, “I wish the school would have given students more time to plan out this trip and talk to their parents before all of the tickets got sold out. I would have loved to go with my friends but by the time I opened up the website to fill out the agreement and release and buy my ticket, there were no available spots left.”
Although Aliso Niguel’s 2024 Grad Nite is a great opportunity for seniors to kick start their summer and part ways with many high school friends, it is disappointing to many that the tickets were sold out swiftly and the school is not able to compensate for all of the interested students who are on the waitlist.
