As students start getting accepted into college, many are looking for ways to cut down costs; of which the PTSA of Aliso Niguel High School can help with available scholarships.
Graduating Seniors who are also PTSA student members at Aliso Niguel High School can apply for the PTSA scholarship that pays for community college, a trade school, or a four-year college.
The scholarship amount is not yet revealed and varies each year. The eligibility for the scholarship is that the applicant must be a graduating senior of Aliso Niguel High School in the current school year and must be a member of the Aliso Niguel PTSA by Feb. 29, 2024.
To apply, students can go on to the Aliso Niguel High School Home Page Website and search ‘Senior Scholarships’. There will be a link that directs students to a Google Form that they must fill out. Students will need to provide a letter of reference along with their application. The application notes that the “application and letter of reference should be submitted no later than April 10, 2024.”
“I think it is great that the PTSA is providing scholarships because they are providing opportunities for deserving students that they normally would not have access to,” said Sarah Cuenca (12).
Scholarships are a way for students who do not have an abundance of financial support to gain newfound opportunities in their education. It allows education to be more accessible and even change the course of a student’s future.
Scholarships can also encourage students to get better grades and participate in a wider range of school-wide activities as they hope for a greater chance of being selected.
“I am applying for a scholarship and I think it is great that the PTSA is making an effort to help students with different financial backgrounds and help students alleviate debt after college or university,” said Sania Mirarefin (12).
Scholarships also have indirect benefits to students who qualify. Students can focus on their education and studies rather than worrying about the money that is paying for their education. Furthermore, there would be less stress after college as students will not have to worry about debts and can focus on finding jobs and internships.
“I think the benefit of receiving a scholarship continues even after college as you can put it on resumes to make you stand out from other applicants,” Sania continued.
Scholarships can showcase merit and credibility to newly graduated students who might not have much job experience when first entering the workforce. By having something to show that shows a student’s value is a great addition to any resume.
Students who want to apply for the PTSA Scholarship but are not yet a seniors should apply to become a PTSA student as soon as possible to qualify for the future. The link and process for the online application is available on the Aliso Niguel High School Home Page Website’s PTSA tab.
