Students at Aliso Niguel High School are soon able to register for the classes they want to take for the next school year. They will be able to talk with their counselors throughout February to choose the best course they should take for their future.
Beginning next week, juniors will be able to speak with their counselors during their social science classes. A few weeks later, sophomores will be able to decide. Lastly, freshmen will be given the opportunity to do the same. The deadline to modify enrolled classes indecently online will be on Feb. 25.
Mr. Sall, a counselor at ANHS, states, “Be confident in your decisions, especially when enrolling in advanced courses, because it can be very difficult to level down or get your classes changed.”
It is important to take time to think and consider the classes a student should take because accidentally choosing a class that is too difficult or uninteresting may become overwhelming to change or to stay in for the school year.
Deciding to take multiple AP classes can make a big impact on your daily schedule and it should not be considered lightly by students. Students should analyze their performance level and current grades to help them dictate what courses they should take. They should also take into consideration their interests or fields they want to pursue.
Ella Haugo (11), says, “I’m choosing specific classes for next year to challenge me and encourage me to do well in my future. I’m grateful I get the chance to choose classes that I like and get to be more well educated in them.”
Students are required to receive certain credits to graduate college such as certain years of a science, english, math, and foreign languages. To access how many credits a student has or needs they can visit their student academic plan in Aries portal.
Students should follow their academic plan to prioritize the subjects they need and the credits needed to graduate or to get into a UC or CSU college. To get more help deciding what steps to take to reach an academic plan, students can speak to their counselors or college and career advisors for help.
There are also many sports or electives available at ANHS to choose from. Classes such as Phycology, Bio Tech, Avid and Yearbook are not required classes for students to take, but they are provided for those that are interested in learning new skills and knowledge.
Sports like football, pep squad and wrestling are available to enroll in online. To check for tryouts or additions for a team it is available on the athletics calendar on the ANHS home page.
The classes a student picks should overall help them grow as people in order for them to become successful in the future. A student should feel comfortable and happy with their final choice instead of stressed for the upcoming school year.
Students should take the right steps towards their future and their emotional health. ANHS gives students the opportunity to challenge and express themselves through the classes they choose to attend.
