Aliso Niguel had its winter pep rally on Friday, Jan. 19. The pep rally took place during students’ third-period class in the gymnasium, where students occupied the bleachers and the basketball court served as the stage.
The rally began with the introduction of the four pep rally hosts representing each grade level and hyping up the crowd.
When asked about her opinion, Natasha Bassirpou (10) claimed, “I liked how they had set up the gym and the energy the hosts and the students had. I also loved the dance team’s choreographed Moulin Rouge dance performance.”
As the rally continued, the sports teams for the spring semester were introduced and were cheered on by their fellow peers. Then, the girls’ song team performed a short routine for the crowd to a remix of “It’s Time to Get Lose.”
The dance appreciation team performed a remix of “Say So,” “Options” and “Like That” by Doja Cat. They had no problem capturing the audience’s attention and showing off their skills.
Soushia Moghadam (11) stated, “I enjoyed this Pep Rally and also the dance appreciation team’s performance was great.”
Sarah Heidar (10) shared, “I thought the pep rally was amazing! The cheerleaders and dance team were so good, and I loved the music the band played. It made me proud to be a student at Aliso Niguel.”
Another student, Michael J. (11), said, “I’m not usually one for school events, but the pep rally was fun. It was great to see everyone come together and support our teams. Plus, the energy was unbelievable.”
There were a few students, however, who felt that the rally could have been better. William Hougan (10) said, “I thought the rally was okay, but it could have been more organized. Some of the transitions between performances were a bit awkward, and I think they could have done a better job of hyping up the sports teams.”
Another student, Neekon Akhavanheidari (10), exclaimed, “My step-sister is in the DA team, and in my opinion, DA was the best performance alongside the dodgeball game.”
Overall, the pep rally was a success. It brought students together, boosted school spirit and provided a fun break from the usual routine of classes and homework.
As the rally came to a close and students filed back into the school, it was clear that the event had been a positive experience for everyone involved. It was a reminder of the power of school spirit and the importance of coming together as a community to support one another.
