Aliso Niguel High School’s ASB class hosts many creative games at lunch that students are able to participate in during their lunch break. On Friday, Jan. 12, the exciting game was “Guess the Song.”
The game is very simple: four to five students are lined up and a few seconds of a song are played. The two ways to win are either naming the title of the song or naming the song’s artist.
If the student answers the artist or title of the song correctly they get a chocolate chip cookie.
The game was held in the junior area with a big banner put up and in front of it a table filled with cookies. Loud music was playing for everyone to enjoy and the set up grabbed many students’ attention to stop by and play the game.
A handful of the songs played were “18” by Khalid, “Lovers Rock” by T.V Girl, “The Spins” by Mac Miller, “Sunflower” by Postmalone, “Some” by Steve Lacy, “Bound 2” by Kanye West and “Closer” by The Chainsmokers.
Kristy Kim (11), Commissioner of Intramurals and organizer of the event, said, “I played songs that I knew most people would know from social media, some were from my playlist and I asked other students from the ASB class what songs I should include.”
Many students surrounded the table and were eager to get in line to play or try again after a failed attempt.
Carter Rios (10) participated and said, “Two seconds into the song, “C U Girl” by Steve Lacy, I said the artist and the title and I got two cookies. I wanted to go again but the line got long super quick.”
Vittoria Zoccoli (10) said, “The song I got was ‘Wet Dreamz’ by J. Cole. I didn’t recognize the song right away and another person answered before I could. I was sad but I tried again and won so I still got a cookie.”
“I stood by the booth most of lunch and I knew so many of the songs that I got around 12 cookies from the game. I got some help from my friends and the game was honestly so much fun,” shares Nikki Kalvakhi (10).
Students of the current generation love listening to all genres of music so this game was very successful, attracting many participants who got to challenge themselves with their music IQ.
Mia Harris (9), a member of ASB’s Intramurals Committee who helped alongside Kim, said, “This is one of the newer lunchtime events we have done and I would have to say it is very exciting. Everyone gets really stirred up and concentrated to win and we all have a great time.”
