On Tuesday, Jan. 30, 2024 at Aliso Niguel High School, different sports clubs, theater, dance appreciation and ASB held an eighth-grade expo for the incoming freshmen. The event helped showcase the different groups and clubs that eighth graders could participate in for the upcoming 2024-2025 school year.
The expo provided opportunities for future freshmen to connect with Aliso and inform themselves about the opportunities found at ANHS. Eighth-graders were able to obtain more information and an in-depth experience of how these groups are maintained at the high school level. The expo also included food trucks for the people attending.
The groups that were presenting at the expo spent long hours and worked hard to get ready for the expo and showcase what they are about.
Theater president, Emily Chapman (12) stated, “The theater company as a whole worked hard to organize tours of our facilities for the incoming ninth graders.”
The expo brought together eighth graders and high schoolers as the eighth graders were able to form new relations during the expo. The eighth graders also were able to attend the performance of dance appreciation, which is one of the dance teams that are offered at ANHS.
A member of dance appreciation, Mariah Lewis (10) commented, “Our team is called Dance Appreciation also known as DA and we’re performing a dance from our large and small co-ed team!”
With the enthusiasm of all groups at the expo, everyone was able to work together to create a welcoming environment and experience for the eighth graders. From the vibrant displays to engaging demonstrations, students were introduced to the many opportunities awaiting them in high school.
The expo provided plenty of opportunities for eighth graders to ask questions and relate with current high school students. Getting to know one another with personal experiences helps ease the concerns of stepping into a new school and build up excitement going from middle school to high school. Inspirational actors, dancers and athletes from the middle school all get a glimpse of what they are able to do once they transfer into high school at Aliso.
The eighth grade expo at Aliso Niguel High School created a sense of community with the different groups of students working together for a successful event dedicated to the incoming freshmen. The lingering excitement of entering high school and gaining more opportunities left eighth graders with a promising anticipation for the adventures that await them and their upcoming high school journey.
