As 2023 comes to a close, reports have confirmed that the average number of people listening to music has increased. With 2024 now in the picture, this new year provides a lot of room for new music.
On Jan. 12, Kali Uchis came out with her fourth studio album, “ORQUÍDEAS” which features 14 different songs in her native language, Spanish. As Uchis announced her new album in 2022, she also mentioned it would be a “new era” for her music, seeing that she has collaborated with other music artists such as Peso Pluma, El Alfa, JT, KAROL G and Rauw Alejandro. Since the album’s release, “ORQUÍDEAS” has received moderately satisfactory ratings of four out of five stars and 88 percent out of 100 percent.
On the same day, Kid Cudi came out with his album “Insano.” “Insano” was Cudi’s first album in two years, since the release of “Entergalactic.” His most famous album, “Man on the moon” marks his 15 anniversary this year as well.
Releasing alongside Cudi and Kali Uchis, rapper 21 Savage dropped his short notice album “American Dream” which features many other features on his album with the most notable being pop singer Doja Cat, music producer Metro Boomin, and Afrobeat artist Burna Boy. On the song “nee-nah,” Travis Scott accompanies 21 Savage in one of his most raw recordings performed with little autotune.
Even more, pop singer Ariana Grande came out with her first single “yes, and?” from her upcoming album rumored to be named “Eternal Sunshine” which is named after a Jim Carey movie. The album has been pushed back due to obligations. Playing a role in the “Wicked” film has become Grande’s longest ongoing period without releasing a new album.
Paige Bergman (11) shares her opinion on “yes, and?” saying, “The song is so good. She came out of hibernation with a banger that is different from any other song. I just know that this album is going to be really good.”
SZA plans to use “Lana” as an expansion to her most recent album “SOS” which was released at the end of 2022 and contributed to SZA’s successful career. Named after the first tattoo she got at the age of 13, “Lana” consists of both unreleased songs that were leaked on social media and a few of her new projects. As the tracklist and release date remain unconfirmed, SZA fans have this album to look forward to this fall.
According to Hollywood life, R&B singer The Weeknd will be releasing a new album that will be his final installment in his music trilogy that consists of two other albums from 2020 and 2022. He also mentions that this upcoming album, that has yet to be named, will mark the end of his name “The Weeknd” and will be referred to as his first name, “Abel.”
Rose Tabatabaei (11) who is a fan of The Weeknd’s music says, “I am extremely excited for his new album, and while it is sad to know that his music we grew up to know and love will no longer be released under the same iconic name, I am looking forward to his new beginning.”
As time goes by, music artists not only continue to release new albums but also contribute to the universal passion for music.
