The annual school dance, Winter Formal, is just around the corner. Aliso Niguel High School’s Winter Formal will be held on Saturday, Feb. 10.
The venue where the Winter Formal dance will be taking place is called “Hangar 21” in the city of Fullerton. The venue is an airport hangar located at the Fullerton airport, designated for big events. Approximately a 30 minute distance from Aliso Niguel and students who live in the area. The event officially starts at 7 p.m. and ends at 10 p.m.
The sophomore class president, Wyatt Dalby (10) said, “The Hangar 21 will be a very open space; it is not super enclosed.”
A different venue provides a new setting to socialize for students who have been to previous school dances. With such an open space, students will be able to dance freely and have fun with their friends without feeling too crowded.
Mrs. Ross said, “The Hangar 21 is a new venue for the school. Aliso Niguel has not held dances there before, and the theme goes well with the venue.”
The theme of the dance was decided at a student representative meeting and later revealed at the pep rally; the theme for this year is James Bond 007.
Within the venue, students will be able to dance in a colorful, atmospheric room with multi-colored lasers and lights, along with a DJ controlling the music. The dance will be providing snacks, which includes a dessert table with a variety of sweet treats. A coffee truck will also be available, serving various types of coffee drinks. Group activities and games like foosball and air hockey will be available for students to enjoy.
Like the other school dances, there will be photo booths, allowing students to capture the fun memories created at this year’s unique venue. Two different types of photo booths will give students the option of regular photos from booth photos or photos from 360 photo booths.
With every school dance, there will be a dance court. Students will be able to cast votes on who should be crowned. Any person can enter and become a contestant in the Winter Formal Court.
The special events coordinator, Rachel Sleeth (12) said, “The Winter Formal court voting is simple. It is on 5-star, and we will be sending out a link next week for everyone to vote.”
Winter Formal is a social event, and is usually spent with friends. If a student wanted to bring along a friend who does not attend Aliso Niguel, they would have to fill out a guest contract before buying a ticket for them. The guest ticket and contract should be bought and filled out at the same time. The deadline for the guest contract is Feb. 7.
Tickets are currently priced at $75 with an ASB card and $85 without, and prices will increase on Jan. 22. The last day to buy tickets for Winter Formal is Feb. 8, and they can be purchased online or in person at the Kiosk during school hours.
