Aliso Niguel’s boys’ soccer team kicks off the season with a win against hometown rival Dana Hills High School on Nov. 29.
Out of the 30 players on the team, 21 of them are seniors.
The captains this season are Talan Chauncey (12), Gavyn Nobles (12) and Ethan Sullivan (12).
When asked about the upcoming season, Chauncey said, “This season I hope to get another league title. I also hope to achieve a D1 CIF Championship or at least have a good run in CIF to make it to state.”
The ending score in the game against Dana Hills High School was 2-0 with Aliso boys bringing home the win. With this game, the winning streak the boys held over Dana Hills continued.
The scorers of the game were Chase Seager (11) and Gavyn Nobles.
In the first half of the game, Aliso was seen defending Dana. Around 15 minutes in, the game cleared out and began to play in Aliso’s hands.
With only 13 minutes left in the first half, Chase Seager was able to score with a header crossed in from Nico Nguyen (11).
Finishing off the half, Aliso had the lead with a score of 1-0.
From the beginning of the second half, Aliso controlled the game. Halfway through, Gavyn Nobles scored from a free kick that Jason Starcks (12) took which was fumbled by the Dana Hills goalkeeper.
Aliso was able to keep Dana Hills on their side of the field and finished off the game with a win.
Aliso boys played against Tesoro High School on Dec. 1 taking home a 5-0 win.
The scorers of the game were Jason Starcks, Logan Vargas (12), Talan Chauncey (12), and Jackson Geiger (12).
Opening up the first half with nine minutes into the game, Starcks scored with a left-footed shot. Nearly 15 minutes later, Starcks scored his second goal with an assist by Takudzwa Kajese (10).
At 29 minutes in, Ryan Hubbard (12), crossed the ball into the box when Geiger passed it down to Vargas in front of the goal leading him to kick it into the back of the net.
Ten minutes later in the last seconds of the first half, Chauncey scored with a header from Gunnar Wade’s (11) free kick.
Aliso finished off the half with 4-0 leverage on Tesoro.
The boys kept up with their score until the last two minutes of the game when Starks dribbled down the right wing of the field, securing a pass to Geiger who followed through securing the last goal of the game.
Aliso ended with a 5-0 win against Tesoro.
When asked about any important upcoming games, Seager said, “Aliso against San Clemente is always a big game.”
This year the boys are competing in the Sea View League. In recent years, Aliso boys soccer has won the league in 2019, 2021, 2022, and 2023. The boys also became CIF champions in 2018 and 2021, with the addition of having CIF Playoff Appearances since 2014.
