Winter Formal 2024 will be held on Feb. 10 at a brand new venue called Hangar 21 in Fullerton, and ticket prices are increasing fast.
Winter Formal is a high school dance that takes place during the chilly winter months, usually from Dec. through Feb. It is similar to Prom, but tends to be open for all students instead of just the upper classes.
Along with traditional dance festivities, there will be food, drinks and even games! As the name implies, it tends to be more “formal”, but each school will have its own dress code depending on the theme that evokes the winter feeling.
Wyatt Dalby (10), the ANHS sophomore class president says, “Winter Formal will be taking place at Hangar 21 in Fullerton, which is an airplane hangar converted into a unique event venue. It is a wide open venue with up to 20,000 square feet of space, and the entire property can accommodate up to 1200 guests. This space will allow us to create a one of kind WOFO.”
The venue sets the tone for the event and impacts the guest experience. A well-chosen venue can enhance the event’s theme, provide the right ambiance, and facilitate guest comfort and convenience.
This year, Aliso Niguel High School has dedicated Feb. 10 to the day of the dance, but many students are questioning why ticket prices are already increasing, more than two months before.
Wyatt Dalby says, “I understand the concern with increasing prices. Unfortunately, in todays world, venues large enough for our school to host at are not at all cheap.”
The ANHS price per ticket for this specific venue is $75 a person, but the school offered a deal for $65 to spur sales around Thanksgiving, which has now increased to $75. This is Aliso Niguel’s minimum cost for the venue, so ASB reminds students that they have only raised prices to the minimum cost to be able to pay for the venue.
Mariam Taheri (12) says, “I think the ticket prices are reasonable and fair considering the venue, time and effort the school has put into planning the entire event. I think it can definitely be one reason though that some people may decide to skip out on the dance.”
$75 with an ASB card will be the price of one ticket until Jan. 19, only three weeks before the dance, which proves to be one perk of having the card.
Regarding the venue, ASB tells students to anticipate a unique experience this year.
Wyatt Dalby says, “Last year WOFO was held at the AV center with the theme of Star Wars. We believe Hangar 21 will be a more special experience for ANHS, tying into our theme with some great decor. N-Effect will be our production team this year and they will be running the DJ booth in addition to games, photo booths, coffee bar and other food and drink.”
ANHS and ASB encourages students to buy tickets to Winter Formal, as it is a distinctive experience and is sure to start the new year off right!
