We are given the last month of the year to reflect and process our decisions and memories. New Year’s is all about the big countdown to have a fresh start and set some goals for the future and things that we can hope to achieve.
Chloe Young(12) Said that her New Year resolves to “get good grades and to try harder at school and to get more motivation.”
Josie Zamora (12) says she “wants to make more friends and be a better version of myself”.
Jay Keys (10) says he “wants to focus harder in school and make it a big priority.”
Sienna Stand (11) said that a big goal of hers is to “spend less time on her phone and to be better at being in the moment.”
Camryn Liengang (12) said a New Year’s goal is to “really focus on school and make sure that I can get into the college I want and make that a big priority.”
Sophia Bayar (12) said she wants “to get a dog for the New Year” because it will increase her happiness.
Austin Hays (11) said that a New Year’s goal of his was to “focus on school and also when the New Year starts, the baseball season will start and since I play baseball I will by trying to focus on baseball but also manage school.”
Landon Carbonara (12) said his New Year’s Resolution is to “focus on basketball and make sure that I am 100% focused for the season and that I can play my best and make sure that I am happy with how I am playing.”
Making sure that New Year’s goals are being set is a great way to start the year because it gives people a chance to improve and plan for how they’d like to budget their time. Setting big or small goals can help us test ourselves and push our limits. As for some of Aliso’s students’ New Year’s goals/resolutions, most said they wanted to improve at school and focus more. That can always be hard because there are many distractions including sports, social media, and even friends.
Seeing that a lot of students have similar goals that they can relate to and work better on. Some tips on keeping up with goals is to start small and ensure you can accomplish them. By being confident in yourself, you can eventually build them into something long-lasting. Last, never give up because having hope for big or the smallest things can take you a long way.
