On Dec 1., students at Aliso Niguel High School gathered near the lunch tables to participate in the festive cookie decorating activity to welcome the new month of December.
The event took place near the lunch tables, where makeshift cookie decoration stations were set up, adorned with an array of colorful icings, sprinkles and edible decorations. The event, organized by the school’s ASB activities students, drew a diverse crowd of participants. Students were able to unleash their inner artists and creativity on delicious sugar cookies.
Tyler (10) mentioned from his experience: “I liked it [the activity], and the cookies were good, but it was a little disorganized.”
Michael Field (10) added, “I literally just put a pile of icing and started eating it, so it was alright.”
Brandon Perez (10) also shared, “[The cookies] tasted like they were from Ralph’s: not good but not bad either. I think they were store-bought because they were mediocre.”
The cookie decorating activity not only provided students with a delightful break from academics but also brought a sense of community within the student body.
As the afternoon proceeded, the lunch tables transformed into canvases for artistic expression, showcasing the creative prowess of the students. Vibrant hues and imaginative designs adorned the once plain sugar cookies, turning an ordinary lunch break into a memorable and festive experience.
Kristy Kim (11), one of the students in ASB who ran the activity shared her perspective, stating, “So many students came to decorate a cookie! It actually went so much better than we expected because the cookies were all decorated 2/3 of the end of lunch.”
Kristy further stated, “I didn’t dislike anything about the activity at all; the whole event gave us a sense of holiday spirit and actually made me really happy to see everyone so excited to decorate a cookie.”
Despite minor concerns about organization and varying opinions on the taste of the cookies, the overwhelming response was full of enjoyment and holiday spirit. The event successfully achieved its goal of providing students with an opportunity to relax, connect with students and embrace the joyful atmosphere of the season.
The cookie decorating event also helped push the holiday spirit to the hearts and enjoyment of the students at Aliso. The many students who participated, although having differing opinions, were able to experience the event as well as the cookies.
Aliso Niguel High School’s cookie decorating activity on Dec. 1st added a touch of sweetness and fun to the campus. The festive gathering left a positive impression, helping to bring the importance of community and shared experiences during the holiday season.
