Senior year is a stressful time for students who are preparing for college, and preparing for college includes managing time with college apps.
Applying for college is a long process. From choosing which schools to apply to, to beginning the application process, and writing the essays. This process comes with the influence of time management, and how crucial keeping an organized schedule is to being able to get important work done.
Along with college apps and school, students also have to focus on extracurricular activities and most of the seniors at Aliso Niguel High School are part-time workers which decreases the amount of time available to complete these tasks.
Although, there are many resources available to students who may not have time at home or outside of school to complete this work. One of these resources is Wolverine+, an extra 40-minute study period that the school offers for students to complete assignments that they may not have time for.
One of our senior students uses this time wisely. “I find time to work on my college apps during Wolverine+ and any off time I have outside of campus” Mia Perez (12).
The college application process is very long and time-consuming, which is why it is also a good idea for students to get a head start. Applications for UC’s opened on Aug. 1 while applications for CAL states opened on Oct. 30.
The majority of seniors prefer to begin their applications early. “I started my UC apps really early when they released the PIQ questions so I did not have to worry as much” Melody Le (12).
Being able to complete your applications all depends on how you manage your time, which our peers have showcased.
