Boo Grams are finally on sale this 2023-2024 school year, hosted by the ANHS Link Crew. They are $1 each, and are sold everyday during lunch by Link Crew students. The event lasts from Oct. 2 to Oct. 27 so that students have enough time to buy them throughout the month before Halloween.
Link Crew, taught by Mrs. Sepe, encourages students to buy a Boo Gram–it’s only a dollar! Students are able to buy them for their friends, teachers and even themselves. They can write a little message on it as soon as they buy it. The Boo Gram also comes with a piece of candy.
The message on the Boo Gram must also be school-appropriate, or else it will not be delivered.
Link Crew’s goal is to raise funds for activities, especially for freshmen since that is the purpose of the class and club. This year is Link Crew’s third year as an actual class, and every year, they have managed to raise several hundred dollars. All of their fundraising was dedicated towards ANHS students, specifically freshmen.
Students can find the vendors near the junior area behind the library. Link Crew has a special stand with posters and music, so it is not difficult to miss. They accept dollar bills or coins.
Students are also able to buy Boo Grams from the Wolverine Marketplace, the school’s online store. That can be found on Aliso’s website under Activities. There, students and parents can pay with credit cards.
Taylor Clark (12), a Link Crew student helping out with the Boo Gram stand, emphasizes, “You only have to pay one dollar for a nice note and candy. Get your Boo Grams before the end of the month! It’s a fun gift for your friends.”
The Boo Grams will be delivered by the end of the month by Link Crew students during the school day. They will give each teacher a bag of the delivered Boo Grams to distribute to their students.
However, Boo Grams is not the only event that Link Crew hosts or is involved in. Link Crew is composed of only upperclassmen: juniors and seniors, whose goal is to get freshmen more involved at school and to raise school spirit through various methods. These include events, volunteering and even just being exemplary students to the freshmen.
Link Crew is also involved with the STEPS program to encourage unity and kindness between all of Aliso Niguel’s students. They even participate in multiple football games by being involved in dance performances to raise school spirit.
Mason Davis-Brown (12), a student involved in that program, says that he really enjoys meeting new people and forming connections by being in Link Crew. “It’s a really valuable experience,” he says, “there aren’t many opportunities like this one.”
Students are always encouraged to join Link Crew, and even if they do not have room in their schedules for that class period, they can still join the club. Students with any questions are always welcomed to see Mrs. Sepe in P-23.
