The new school year marks the beginning of a new water polo season and the boys are anticipating to win league, qualify for CIF and continue their winning streak tradition.
This year the boys water polo team is competing in the Sea View league.
In recent years, the boys have moved from division four to division one, and placed first in league and competed in the playoffs in 2022.
For the 2023 season, Coach Jon Puffer states, “As always, our goal is to win league, push through CIF and improve each day as a team throughout the season.”
The 2023 boys water polo captain is Jackson Geiger (12). Geiger states, “We train twice a day, swim and legs conditioning in the morning and after school we do weights and polo.”
As the boys train for upcoming matches their number one goal is to become league champions and play in CIF.
Their first non-league game was against Dana Hills High School on Aug. 22. The boys won 14-3.
Several wins were taken home for Aliso against Villa Park, Francis Parker, Crean Lutheran, and again Dana Hills.
So far the boys have won five out of nine of their games; overall with a winning percent of fifty-six.
Although team members graduated this past year, the boys water polo team is mentally and physically set for this year’s season with high hopes and goals.
