Link Crew is an amazing class at Aliso Niguel, its purpose is for upperclassmen to build important skills and to assist freshmen in their journey into High School. Link crew organized an exciting freshmen orientation including games, activities and a school tour for the up and coming class of 2027.
Not only is Link Crew in charge of orientations, they also set up special events throughout the school year for all grade levels.
Before the teal-out football game, Link Crew participated in the Tailgate which included food trucks and games. You could find the crew at 5 p.m. before Teal-out games on the outside basketball courts. They host pie in the face for $5, and facepaint and hair dye for $1 each.
Austin Ceily (10) states, “Before the game, I went to the Tailgate with my friends and it was so fun! I especially liked the kona-ice and playing cornhole with my friends. I also was able to pie my favorite teacher in the face!”
They hold various events throughout the year including spirit weeks, competitions and even movie nights. The Crew also has informational meetings about next year’s classes for up and coming Sophomores at the Freshmen lunch area.
Link Crew’s mission is to help Freshmen with the new challenges in highschool, plan school activities and organize tutorials for Freshmen. The benefits of joining the crew is improved leadership skills, strengthening public speaking and earning volunteer hours.
They are an organization that helps fill the gaps of Freshmen transitions to help them as it is one of the most important and hardest times of their lives. They want to ensure the students feel welcomed and connected to their school as they will thrive in a helpful environment. They will perform better academically, show up more and they will have greater self esteem in this post Covid world.
Ms. Sepe says, “I love working with upperclassmen and teaching them leadership skills and helping them believe in themselves because I truly believe everyone is a leader, you just have to tap into their personal leadership skills and how to present it.”
Creating posters and helping Special Needs Kids is just a small part of being in the Crew. They also sell Boo grams for that special person in your life. You can find them in the Freshmen area selling a Gram for $1 a piece.
Melody Moeinza (11) comments, “I really enjoy being in Link Crew and being able to make a positive difference in the school.”
Link Crew is a great leadership class at our school which allows you to get involved with school activities and the students.
The class also helps you get closer to others in your community, Alexa DiSano (11) commented, “Something I enjoy about Link Crew is how close everyone is in the group, and how we all help each other out when we are in need.”
This year’s Link Crew is during the third period and it is run by Ms. Sepe and Mrs. McClellan. If you are interested in joining this class you can contact either teacher through email or stop by their classrooms.
