Aliso Niguel High School honored its League and CIF Champions from the 2022-23 school year during the halftime show of the Neon-Out football game.
In order to win their Leagues, both boys and girls teams had to finish with the most wins for their division. Out of all the boys and girls athletic teams, Aliso Niguel High School acknowledged nine teams.
For the girls teams, four teams won their League: beach volleyball, softball, volleyball and tennis.
For boys teams, five teams won their League: water polo, baseball, lacrosse, wrestling and soccer.
This night allows Aliso students to praise and admire the hard work of their peers. Mr. Mashburn, the Athletic Director for Aliso Niguel said, “It’s an unbelievable way to recognize [Aliso athletes] and to show them that we value what they have done.”
On average, Aliso will win around 8-10 League Championships a year throughout all the sports programs.
Mr. Mashburn hopes that placing the spotlight on these hard working students will inspire those in the crowd.
He hopes that, “It sets the bar for other teams,” raising both Aliso pride and effort in their respective sports.
The varsity team from the year prior is invited out on the field to participate in the halftime recognition, including both present and past students.
It is a unifying expiernce for the athletes and a reward for their hard work.
