he Eco Freako Club is one of the many important clubs at Aliso Niguel High School, the club has a large impact on the students with its many events, highlighting the importance of keeping the community clean. Eco Freako Club attracts many students every year due to its exciting area clean-ups and being a member is an opportunity to make a difference.
Preventing Aliso Niguel High School from being dirty is not the only goal of the Eco Freako Club, their main purpose is to spread awareness of the overlooked reality of our ecosystem, have a positive impact and promote good energy.
Vice President Ana Campos (12) said, “The club’s intention is to do our part in keeping our environment clean, not just our school and Aliso but everywhere. This is why our club holds many clean-ups locally but also other areas that we are able to help.”
A few events Eco Freako Club will host this semester are beach and trail clean-ups, they focus more on Laguna Beach and the trails around Aliso Viejo. An interesting tradition they do is strawberry picking at farms. Members look forward to this at the end of the semester because it is a little reward for a successful achievement and is a chance to bond with one another.
On Earth Day, a very special day to the Eco Freako Club, they visit other areas, for example, Dana Hills and Laguna Hills to help gather trash there. To bring in more hands, the club is very active on social media and posts information on events so everyone who wants to, can participate.
The Eco Freako Club has many photos of past events that they arranged last year, with a smile on their faces many students were having a blast! Spending time with their friends, being one with nature and serving a purpose in the community.
Another key topic of the Eco Freako Club is preventing climate change, in the club meetings they discuss many different solutions and small actions that can make a big difference. Emphasis on protection of the animals, conservation of our natural resources, preservation of trees and restoration of clean habitats.
Other important topics, for example, Women’s Month in March and possibly other national holidays regarding our nation are also emphasized by the Eco Freako Club. They have a large variety of what they bring awareness to, teaching the students of Aliso Niguel new things everytime!
President and Vice President of last year’s Eco Freako club have left their positions to Alyssa Draper and Ana Campos.
President Alyssa Draper (12) said, “It being my Senior year, I really want to make this year’s Eco Freako club memorable and fun like how the past representatives did for me. This also serves as a way for me to leave my residency with a mark and influence future secretaries to do the same.”
The Eco Freako Club has been running for a stable 5 years and has been changing the perspectives of others while also making the Earth a better place to live in.
