Aliso Niguel welcomes the addition of Ms. Carrie Ross as our school’s new Activities Director.
Ms. Ross’ move to Aliso follows a 10-year long career at nearby school, Dana Hills High School. As a Dana Hills graduate, she worked as a coach, teacher, and athletic director.
She welcomes the opportunity to work as Activities Director because it allows her to combine her background of working in activities and athletics. She also has connections to members on our current staff.
Ms. Ross understands the challenges of being the architect of building an activities-centric role at Aliso. She would like to see more student involvement in activities here on campus.
She intends to continue many of ASB’s current activities. She would like to function as a support system for guiding the student leadership here on campus. She wants to help ASB with their decision-making; all while keeping in mind the idea of inclusivity to encourage school spirit and participation.
She explains her role as simply guiding the students and “making ASB a group that is able to take feedback from students make events better, and there is always room to improve.”
Some of Ms. Ross’ overall goals for this school year include establishing her place among the staff and students. She would like to be able to make an impact on students’ daily lives. She aims to “be visible” so that students know her face and that they can talk to her when they see her. She plans on working towards this goal through being involved at student events. She is super friendly and looks forward to getting to know lots of students at Aliso.
Referred to as CPR by her students, long-time ASB student Jayme Chen (12) describes her, “She is such a good teacher and has inspired ASB to achieve their goals this year.”
ASB has suffered some setbacks in school activities and school spirit due to some instability with the Activities Director position in the last couple of years.
The hiring of Ms. Ross to run ASB for the new school year gives students hope the future of Aliso’s activities will be bright.
