Aliso Niguel previously enforced the scheduling software Enriching Students during the 2022-2023 school year to manage Wolverine+ throughout the week. Enriching Students has been used for a while now, yet this year’s students and their schedules have been affected with a few adjustments.
Enriching Students was picked by ANHS staff members Mr. Biggs, Ms. Harlan and vice principals. The faculty came to an agreement and voted for the digital platform to change Tutorial to Wolverine+.
Ms. Harlan elaborates on the process of choosing Enriching students for Wolverine+: “Previously, we [ANHS teachers] did not have any access to where students were on campus during Tutorial. Now, we know where every student is, in case of an emergency, students have more choice of where they go and teachers are able to call in students if they need more help to provide extra support for students.”
Other schools in the Capistrano Unified School District have already been invested in Enriching Students, increasing its popularity all across schools. For example, Don Juan Avila Middle School uses Enriching Students for Bronco+, which is their version of Wolverine+, and is proved to be very effective for DJAMS continues to use the software up until this day.
Ever since the 2023-2024 school year began, Enriching Students has differed from the previous years. Now, Wolverine+ is not only a part of the block schedule from Tuesday to Friday, but also on Mondays. Students were required to sign up for Wolverine+ before 3:15 p.m. on Monday, but many students did not do so; therefore, teachers encourage students to sign up within the 15 minutes of Wolverine+ on Mondays.
Because Wolverine+ is incorporated into the Monday Late Start schedule, class periods are now as short as 45 minutes. In addition, Wolverine+ is now 40 minutes long during the Tuesday to Friday block schedule and classes are 100 minutes instead. With these changes, students have less time in their actual classes and more time for further help, which is beneficial for those who need an extra helping hand in their studies yet troublesome for those who generally do not do anything but their homework during Wolverine+.
Even with only a few weeks into the school year, Enriching Students every so often may not function well enough for the students to have access to the website, which is considered to be experiencing downtime. Students report that during these times of difficulty, problems consist of being unable to log in and load the website.
Stephen LaRocca (12) shares his experience with Enriching Students: “Luckily, I only had trouble with Enriching Students at the very beginning of the school year. I didn’t know that now, I have to log in through Google instead of Clever, but other than that, everything else in Enriching Students seemed to be the same as before.”
For the most part, Enriching Students’ complications were due to new software updates which caused confusion and disarray for many ANHS students. On top of that, the Enriching Students app, that students were able to download on the phone, no longer exists, so students can only sign up for Wolverine+ through the website. Even though students had struggles with the website, Enriching Students is only made to help students and teachers organize their Wolverine+ schedule.
