Aliso Niguel is offering students the opportunity to travel to Spain for a week during Spring Break in 2024. On Tuesday, Sept. 12 at 6 p.m. in P-23, Mrs. Sepe held an informational meeting about the trip since she will be the group leader.
The Spain trip is projected to be 10 days, and the requested departure date is March 29. Students can return as late as April 7. Mrs. Sepe emphasized that if travelers sign up before Sept. 17, 2023, they will receive a $100 discount.
There are limited spots available, so students should make this a priority. Any student taking Spanish can sign up, no matter the level. The enrollment deadline is Sept. 22, 2023. Mrs. Sepe has the QR code, and the link is www.eftours.com/2584144DF.
The student price is $4,279 and the adult price is $4,939. However, students and parents do not have to pay it all at once. Biweekly and monthly payment plans are available without interest.
The main cities travelers will be visiting are Madrid and Andalusia. Mrs. Sepe made sure to include these two cities because she studied there before. Travelers will spend three nights in Madrid and also visit places such as Toledo, Granada and Cordoba.
Travelers will spend two nights in Granada. Granada, “pomegranate” when translated into English, was the last city to fall before Spain was unified. It is a small town, even smaller than Aliso Viejo. There will be a Flamenco performance in Granada, which includes singing, dancing and guitar playing, originally a gypsy art. Spain is also one of the countries that produces the most amount of olive oil in the world.
Mrs. Sepe also mentioned that travelers will be visiting the Prado Museum in Madrid, Spain, which showcases national art. It contains works from the sixth century BC to the late 19th century. It is a huge museum with works from world-famous artists, so it is a valuable experience for all travelers.
Another anticipated stop is in Seville, the capital and largest city of Andalusia. It is a very famous landmark, full of beautiful buildings and cathedrals. Travelers will have dinner and a sunset cruise along the river there.
More information about security and what is included in the trip is in the Parent Guide. It will also detail how to obtain academic credit and a Global Citizens Scholarship.
A parent who attended the meeting said, “Mrs. Sepe’s presentation was very interesting and we learned a lot about the trip. I think it’s a great opportunity for students, especially if they’re learning Spanish!”
Last year, Aliso offered a program for students to go to Panama. This trip took place during summer vacation. Students who attended recalled that it was very hot there, especially near sea level. However, Brooke Cooperider (12), a student who attended the Panama trip remembered, “It was a life-changing event with so much beautiful culture and people…and food.”
Aliso students should definitely consider enrolling in this trip as soon as possible. Any questions and concerns can be addressed by Mrs. Sepe in P-23.
