Girl’s Basketball
Girl’s Basketball has had an exciting season. With nine wins so far, the girls only have a few more games left on their schedule until CIF playoffs. Recently, the team played Dana Hills Highschool twice, Cerritos Highschool, and El Dorado Highschool, coming out with wins at all the games.
The girls have an upcoming game on Tuesday, Jan. 25 against and at San Clemente Highschool. They also play on Thursday, Jan. 27 against San Juan Hills at home. Then they finish out their season on Jan. 31 at home against Tesoro Highschool. Earlier this season, the team played all three schools, facing losses against each. They hope to bounce back and redeem themselves against these teams in the upcoming weeks.
Hannah Carbajal (11), a junior on varsity, explains “We only have two more games left. Then, hopefully we will have CIF after that.” In order to make it to CIF, the girls must place 1st, 2nd or 3rd in their league.
Hannah says, “I have confidence that we will make it to CIF. With how tough our schedule is I would definitely say that we have had a successful season so far. We have played some of the top teams and players in our area too.”
Ava Weaver (9), a new member of girls basketball explains, “I feel that we have improved a lot this season from start to finish. We have been playing together since summer and there has definitely been a lot of change since then.”
Overall, the girls have had a successful season and look forward to their last few games. They have grown as a team by working hard and having fun.
