Boys Water Polo Competes in CIF
With the end of the boys water polo season comes the next big step of their season, CIF. They came first in the Sea View league, with a record of 21-5-0, which gets them into CIF of division two.
They played their first game on Nov. 2. They played Temple City at home. Temple City had a record of 14-10-0 and they came second in their league, the Rio Honda league. They boys won with a score of 21-5, which advanced them to the second round.
In the second round they played Newbury Park on Nov. 4. Newbury Park had a record of 17-9-0 and they came in third in their league, which was the Marmonte league. The boys’ team played Schurr in the first round and beat them with a score of 18-9. The boys beat Newbury with a score of 8-5, which advanced them to the quarter finals.
In the quarter finals, the boys played Redlands East Valley on Nov. 6. This team had a record of 23-5-0 throughout their season. They came first in the Citrus Belt league to advance to CIF. To get to the quarter finals, Redlands only played against one team, as they had a bye the first round. In the second round they played Santiago and beat them with a score of 13-3.
Unfortunately, the ANHS boys water polo team lost with a score of 7-6. It was a well fought game for the boys. It is sad to see the boys season come to an end, but this has been one of their best seasons yet. Luckily, they got to make a lot of memories as a team and finish the season off with a big bang.
