New School Store Opens

After a school year spent mostly online, Aliso Niguel has returned with full classes, school events, and a new student store. The store had its grand opening during the 2021 student registration and sells school merchandise, supplies, jewelry and much more.

The store is currently open every day during lunch from twelve to one. During these hours students may browse the store or purchase supplies they may need. The store is located next to the 200 hallway and across from the front office.

Merchandise sold there includes hoodies, t-shirts and sweatshirts. Other items such as jewelry, emergency school supplies, ANHS blankets, and scrunchies are also available for purchase. The store also includes charging stations that students can use and charging cords available for purchase.

The store is run by parent volunteers and the PTSA. “Mr. Hatcher approached PTSA over the summer with an idea to open a store that would serve the families of ANHS,” says Mary Engstrom, the chairperson of the store. “

The student store’s main focus is to provide easy access to merchandise and promote a sense of school spirit. The store’s profits go straight back to the PTSA budget, which is used to finance student events such as homecoming.

Since its opening, “we’ve sold through 75 percent of our initial product, “says Engstrom. “We have new styles on order that should arrive by early September.”

These new items include teal and pink tie dye shirts, as well as a restock in other items. The store has allowed for an improved spirit wear buying experience, as students are now able to hold the product before purchase.

While the store has only been open for a short while, it has been very successful and will continue to grow over the course of the year.
